The Obsession

There once was a girl who loved accessories, And it all started with Shoes.......


When I was 4 yrs old I remember watching the Wizard of Oz and all I wanted was Dorothy's ruby red shoes. I remember it like it was yesterday when my wonderful grandma bought me my very own pair! They were perfect! The gorgeous red and the sparkle. From that moment on I was hooked.  Now my love for shoes has grown from that day, It's no longer ruby red slippers that are on my mind. Its everything from heel to flats to boots. 


So I'd like to share with you the 5 basic pairs of shoes every girl needs to have in her closet! Now  dont freak out you can have more pairs of shoes (this coming from the girls who owns 105 pairs and counting...) These are just the basic shoes that are staples for every girls wardrobe! 


1. The Classic Pump: 

Every girl needs a classic pump in her closet. One pair has to be black. Black goes with everything and always looks great. You wanna go with a heel thats comfortable not too high and not too low. (I hate kitten heels) Opt for something a little more expensive. The quality is definitely better, A classic heel like this will stay with you a long time. I know it sounds crazy but invest! 


2. The Ballet Flat

As much as I love heels, I love love love flats! The are so chic and comfortable. There easy to grab on the run and look great with anything. I will NEVER be the girl in nylons and tennis shoes . So I wear them during my commute I will wear them and then change into my heels when I get to work or wherever. I wear them alot with skinny jeans or with a cute summer dress. 


3. Boots

I Love in Minnesota so when Fall and Winter are here I LIVE in boots. So I think investing in a great pair is awesome! I tuck them into skinnys, wear them with skirts to church and work. I recommend having one pair in heels and the other a flat. I also recommend looking for sturdy fabric like leather, It will stand the Minnesota slush and snow. The leather will stand up better then suede or cloth. 

4. The Peep Toe

Im not gonna stay too long on these next too, But every girl needs a cute peep toe in her closet. I love to wear them. My only rule is do not wear them to work! Toes and the office do not mix.... EVER! Opt for a peep toe in nude it will elongate the leg and make you look fabulous. 


5. And Last but certainly not least... The Embellished Shoe:

Whether it be a flat or heel having a shoe with a simple bow or studs on it is always fun to jazz up an outfit with. There a great shoe to add a fun touch to a simple LBD or to add some funk to skinnys and a leather jacket out with the girls. Love them!

My Favs is a feature here on Simply Chic were we showcase are favorite style,or a favorite style icon.


This week its K's turn. Im going to share with you my one of my favorite style icons. I LOVE fashion and style and look to alot of people for inspiration. But I've loved this girls style from the minute I saw her and have always gone back to her and a few others for my perfect looks. So without further ado.... 

Ms. Lauren Conrad. 
I have been following ms. Conrad since her days on Laguna Beach! Then when she was on The Hills! (Not gonna lie own this show on DVD! ;) Love it) But seriously girl can dress! I love how she takes classic pieces such as a collard top and makes it super casual for a fun errand running look or grab coffee with friends like this:

Or take a fitted boyfriend blazer and throw it over a cute dress and fun strappy sandals for a date night look. 

Lauren always makes everything she wears cute. Im so serious I don't think I have ever seen her in something that did not look good! Her cool California girl next door look is so fashion forward and stylish I just love it. 

This is one of my favorites because scarfs and hats are my thing right not and most girls cannot pull off both at the same time. But Ms Lauren can! She always puts together the perfect looks! 

She also has an awesome book out right now titled Style Lauren Conrad. (How appropriate!) If you haven't read it yet I HIGHLY recommend it! Its great if you need help with building a wardrobe. She gives you all her little style secrets. I got my copy for Christmas and read it the same day! and I constantly go back to it for ideas. Get a copy if you can!

Grammys!

Hey Now one of our favorite award shows: The Grammys There is always great people,awesome music,and ofcourse Sweet Fashion! Did you catch the show?? From Gaga entering in an egg, to Justin Beiber NOT winning :( we are still a little bitter. But the show was great and the red carpet even better! 

K Best Dressed: Um I LOVE Selena Gomez! I think she is talented, stunning,a great role model for young girls, and just an overall a good person! I had the pleasure of meeting her at KDWB's jingle ball 2010 and she was amazing!! I think she deserves grammy best dressed of all time! Look at how stunning she is! Ahhh the color is beautiful and the cut is magnificat. She is STUNNING! I cant get enough of her at this moment! I love love love this look and this girl! I want to be her BFF! lol Awesome job Selena! 

Now Im gonna let miss A take it from here She is crazy! 
A Best Dressed: SHE IS FREAKING AWESOME! Im sorry but anyone who comes to the grammys in an egg wins best dressed to me! Now I know some of you are thinking...ah best dressed you cant even see her. But gaga always keeps her little monsters on there toes with her outrageous fashions, I know you cant see her but the way she express herself with her wardrobe is amazing. I wish I had her guts! I love it! Love you gaga! Born this way is amazing check it out if you haven't heard it yet! I play it almost every hour on repeat!

Girl what where you thinking? Do we really need to go into detail. White... No See through....No< Just NO all around.

SAG Awards

Eeeekkkkk! Sorry! We know we are a little behind here but we have been sooooo crazy busy! Now the  SAG awards were a few weeks but hello! we still need to give you our choices for best dressed! 

A: Miss Lea Michelle LOVE HER! I am proud to say I am a MAJOR GLEEK! lol I never miss an episode, Im seeing them LIVE yes LIVE on June 1st and Im so very excited! Where do I start with this dress the color is extraordinary, The cut is flawless and She just looks radiant. She rocked the red carpet! 

K: I LOVED Black Swan! If you haven't seen it yet go! It was amazing. This dress on Mila is gorgeous. I love the color with her skin tone. She looks amazing! The only negative comment is that its a little too long for her! Next time  Mila get it tailored . 

Worst Dressed: 
We both agreed on this one. Christina, Christina. What did you do?  The color is fine but the cut is awful! Your wearing a dress that a much younger girl should wear. The neckline is too low and the slit is WAY too high! Please impress us at the Oscars! 




Well here are our SAG awards best and worst of the Red Carpet! We are so excited to Share the Grammys with you next! Ahh Award Season is almost over :(
